Log Your First Meal

Step-by-step guide to photographing and logging your first meal with GlucIQ.

Logging a meal with GlucIQ takes about 10 seconds. Here’s how.

Step 1: Open the Scanner

Tap the camera icon on the home screen. Position your meal in the frame — GlucIQ works best with an overhead or 45-degree angle shot.

Step 2: Review the AI Estimate

GlucIQ identifies foods in your photo and estimates:

  • Total carbs (with fiber breakdown)
  • Macros (protein, fat, carbs)
  • Confidence level (how sure the AI is about the identification)

Step 3: Edit if Needed

Estimates are always editable. Tap any value to adjust it. Common adjustments:

  • Adding condiments or sauces not visible in the photo
  • Adjusting portion sizes
  • Correcting a misidentified food item

Step 4: Save and Track

Tap Save to log the meal. GlucIQ will:

  • Calculate the glycemic impact score
  • Show insulin math context (if configured)
  • Track the meal against your daily nutrition targets

Tips for Better Estimates

  • Good lighting improves food recognition accuracy
  • Separate items on the plate when possible
  • Include a size reference (like a fork) for better portion estimation
  • Multiple photos can be merged for complex meals

What Happens Next

After logging, check back in 1-2 hours to see how the meal affected your glucose. GlucIQ will overlay the glucose response on your meal card for easy pattern review.
